After three years away, Ted Lasso showed it was a very reliable draw for Apple TV viewers.

The Emmy-winning comedy had its biggest premiere week to date, drawing 866 million minutes of viewing from Aug. 3-9, according to Nielsen. Ted Lasso’s fourth season debuted Aug. 5, and the single new episode released that day accounted for 36 percent of the weekly total, or about 312 million minutes.

The show’s third season in 2023 debuted with 539 million minutes of viewing, meaning season four’s opening week grew by about 61 percent.

The Big Bang Theory spent a third straight week as the No. 1 overall title on Nielsen’s streaming charts, though its 1.06 billion viewing minutes were off slightly from a week earlier. House of the Dragon (940 million minutes) finished second for the week leading up to its third season finale and grew by 6 percent week to week.

Netflix’s My Life With the Walter Boys led the original series top 10 with 896 million minutes, but it was down by 9 percent from its season two premiere week (987 million) last year. Another YA series, Prime Video’s Sterling Point, also premiered in the top 10 originals with 359 million minutes of watch time. Paramount+’s Lioness rejoined the charts a week after its season three debut, scoring 783 million viewing minutes.

Netflix’s sci-fi/horror film The Last House led the movies chart with 838 million minutes of viewing for its premiere week.

Nielsen’s streaming ratings cover viewing on TV sets only and don’t include minutes watched on computers or mobile devices. The ratings only measure U.S. audiences. The top streaming titles for Aug. 3-9, 2026, are below.
