Here’s how to save money at Universal Studios Hollywood during Mega Movie Summer with the available Dining Pass, which features your selection of two eligible entrees and four eligible sides, snacks, desserts, or beverages.
There’s no denying the cost of food during a theme park visit can add up quickly. That’s why it’s always nice when a good deal is available. Universal Studios Hollywood currently offers a Mega Movie Summer Dining Pass. For $59.00 ($64.75 with tax), you can fuel up with two eligible entrees and four eligible sides, plus snacks, desserts, or beverages. This offers plenty of food to be shared between two people during your day at the park.
So what does Universal mean by “eligible” items? It turns out that most items are available. The obvious exclusions are alcohol, Starbucks, and any food you’d find in a souvenir shop like candy bars, etc. Every item I asked for from the standard menu items at most dining locations was included.
Everything I used my dining pass for
When visiting the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, my guest and I ordered one cold Butterbeer and one frozen Butterbeer at the cost of $10.00 each ($10.98 with tax). That alone adds up to $21.96. Instead? It counted as a snack from the dining pass!
For lunch, we ate at the Fast & Furious-themed Drift & Dine, an overlay of Hollywood & Dine near the park entrance.
Grill Master’s Burger Meal

All-beef burger with 1000 Island Dressing, cheddar cheese, grilled onions and bell peppers, tomatoes and pickles. Served with BBQ seasoned fries.
BBQ Chicken Meal

Quarter Mile Funnel Cake

How much money did I save?
When you add together the two Butterbeers, plus the burger, chicken meal, Nitro Rush beverage, and funnel cake, it all comes to approximately $93.26 including tax.
When you deduct the $64.75 paid for the Dining Pass, that’s a total savings of $28.51.
Dining Pass savings are all about strategy if you’re looking to make the most savings. We went into it simply ordering food we wanted to eat. If you want to save even more, you should spend the eligible side/snack/dessert/beverage items on food and not beverages as they are typically the least expensive items.

Overall, if you’re spending a full day at the park, a Dining Pass is well worth it. Although the term “eligible item” can sometimes feel like a trick, Universal Studios Hollywood is pretty generous in this respect. I didn’t come across anything I wanted that I wasn’t able to get.
Written on the pass, it states, “Dining Pass must be used on the date indicated above”. Therefore, don’t plan on using it for return visits. There is also a limited availability of Dining Passes each day.
