Tom Hanks looks back on his career and talks about THIS Cast Away scene that he is never able to watch

Tom Hanks has worked on many films over the course of his career. The actor has been a force to reckon with in the industry, though he himself has had quite a few ups and downs. In a recently released interview while promoting ‘Toy Story 5’, the actor shared that while all of his films are profound experiences, there are times when he is unable to watch some of his own films for a variety of reasons. Here is what the actor had to share.

Tom Hanks on some of the mistakes that he has made in his career

While discussing his career in an interview with ‘The Rest Is Entertainment’, the famed actor recalled his career and shared how every movie he has done holds a different meaning for him. While some have lived up to the mark, many other projects have not met his satisfaction. He started by saying that all of his films were a great experience for him, regardless of how they turned out. “I do not watch these movies after the first time, really, ’cause they never change, and there are movies that have moments in [them] that I cannot watch because I didn’t get there. And sometimes these are the big moments. I simply did not get there. And I know it. And I was confounded by any number of things.”

Tom Hanks admits that he has a hard time watching ‘Cast Away’

Recalling one of his most popular works, ‘Cast Away’, where the plane he is on, along with a lot of FedEx parcels, crashes on a barren island. From making friends with a ball to getting rescued, the film was a great experience for him. However, his reunion scene with Kelly Frears, played by the one and only Helen Hunt, is one of the scenes that he never wants to watch again. As to why, he provided more details and shared, “Chuck is back in Kelly’s house, and he gives her her watch back, and there’s a moment where I just think I’m not there. All it is is a turnaround on me. I do this gesture that I just think is false, and is me, and is not Chuck. If the movie is on, I will get up and leave the room before that scene comes on.”Hanks also added that he realised that he had made a mistake only after the film was finished and he was watching the final product. However, by then it was too late to do anything about it.

Tom Hanks’ latest work projects

Most famously, Hanks had reprised his decades-long role as Woody the Sheriff in the animated feature film ‘Toy Story 5.’ The premise follows all of the toys trying to defeat an AI-led tablet that has managed to become Bonnie’s favourite toy. In addition to Hanks, the movie also stars Stephen Graham, Rob Morgan, Elisabeth Shue, Jack Patten, and many others.
