Tucked away in the outskirts of Atlanta, the picturesque Starlight Drive-In might seem like it’s just a relic of the past… but it’s actually a fully functional drive-in movie theatre & the perfect evening event! Whether you’re looking for a unique date night, an evening out with friends, or even a solo date to the movies, you’ve gotta check out the Starlight! Keep scrolling to learn more.

What is the Starlight Drive-In movie theatre?

The Starlight Drive-In opened in 1949 and is one of the last surviving (and in this case, thriving) drive-ins in the area. Even though they keep the 1940s-style art deco vibe, the theatre has an all-new digital projection system, providing the clearest and brightest picture & sound experience in a drive-in theatre.

You’ve GOTTA check out their whole history… read all about it here.

Today, the Starlight Drive-In is open 7 nights a week, with new showtimes posted weekly on Wednesdays.

The movie start times change based on the season, since all movies must screen at night when it’s dark outside. The gates open approximately:

  • Monday through Thursday 45 min before showtime
  • Friday and Saturday 1.5 hours before showtime
  • Sunday 1 hour before showtime

Tickets are first come, first served and are only sold at the gate.

How do I hear the movie?

The Starlight says,

The audio for the movies is broadcast through an FM transmitter, and you must have a working, FM radio in order to hear the movies. Or, you can bring a battery-operated stereo with speakers to hear the movies.

Are there snacks?

Yes! What’s a movie-going experience without snacks? The Starlight sells popcorn, sodas, and candy. Alcohol is NOT allowed.

Did you say flea market?
